Обычно используется сочетание «рынок Форекс» (англ. Forex market, FX-market). Термин Форекс принято использовать для обозначения взаимного обмена валюты, а не всей совокупности валютных операций.
В англоязычной среде словом Forex обычно называют валютный рынок,[1] а также торговлю валютой (англ. trades currencies)[2]
В русском языке термин Форекс обычно используется в более узком смысле — имеется в виду исключительно спекулятивная торговля валютой через коммерческие банки или дилинговые центры, которая ведётся с использованием кредитного плеча, то есть маржинальная торговля валютой. Более подробно это изложено в разделах «Участники валютного рынка» и «Форекс как средство получения прибыли». При этом термины «международный Форекс» и «международный рынок Форекс» являются некорректными, ввиду того, что «foreign exchange» изначально подразумевает международную торговлю валютой.
